Datta Jayanthi Celebrations

Datta Jayanthi is celebrated to mark the birth of Lord Dattatreya, who is considered an incarnation of the Trimurti—Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. According to Hindu tradition, he was born to Sage Atri and Anasuya Devi as a divine teacher (Adi Guru). The festival honors Lord Dattatreya’s teachings of spiritual wisdom, renunciation, balance in life, and learning from nature. He is believed to have taken 24 gurus from nature, showing that knowledge can come from everyday experiences. Devotees observe Datta Jayanthi with prayers, fasting, chanting, and charity, seeking blessings for wisdom, peace, and right living. Sri Padha Chaya Ashramam, Panchadevpad, reverently celebrated Datta Jayanthi with a grand seven-day Lakshmi Narayana Yagam, performed using over 150 varieties of sacred yagna samagri. The spiritual observances commenced with the auspicious Sri Ganesh Pooja, ensuring the successful conduct of the yagam. Nearly 250–300 devotees participated daily in the yagam with deep faith and devotion. The concluding day of the yagam, coinciding with Datta Jayanthi, witnessed an overwhelming response, with more than 1,000 devotees visiting the ashramam to participate in the sacred rituals and receive divine blessings. Throughout the entire period of the celebrations, Sri Padha Chaya Ashramam graciously organized Nithya Annadhanam, serving meals to all devotees and reflecting the ashramam’s commitment to service, compassion, and spiritual upliftment. For those who wish to experience the spiritual vibrancy of the Lakshmi Narayana Yagam, a video from one of the sacred days is available here.Stay connected for more spiritual updates, events, and videos—follow and subscribe to the Sri Padha Chaya Ashramam YouTube Channel.
